About this marketWatch our film from the market ↓

Once a year, over four days in September, the Grande Foire à la Brocante lines the Quai du Mont-Blanc, the lakefront promenade on the Léman facing the Jet d'Eau. Around sixty professional brocanteurs and antiques dealers from across Switzerland set up on the narrow strip between road and lake, with the mountains across the water. It is organised by the APBG, the association of professional brocanteurs of Genève, with the support of the Ville de Genève.

The standard is that of a major brocante: many familiar faces from the Swiss brocante circuit, high-quality antiques and vintage, lighting, ceramics, glass and jewellery, and noticeably more furniture, carpets and substantial pieces than at most brocantes. Because the quay is one of the city's great promenades, market-goers mingle with tourists and walkers who happen upon the stalls, and the brocante becomes part of city life rather than taking it over. Restaurants, cafés and bars sit just behind the quay, and the lakeside makes an easy place for a break with the Jet d'Eau in view.
