About this market

The Schweizer Photoflohmarkt and the Drehorgeltreffen Lichtensteig are part of the annual Nostalgietag in the historic small town of Lichtensteig in Toggenburg. The event combines a specialised photo flea market with mechanical music, historic vehicles and the special atmosphere of the old market lanes.

The Photoflohmarkt is aimed at lovers of historic photographic technology and analogue photography. On offer are used cameras, photographic accessories and older objects from the history of photography. Picture postcards, photo books, lithographs and other photographic collectibles are also part of the offering. Both events have a long tradition: in 2026 the Photoflohmarkt took place for the 50th time, the Drehorgeltreffen for the 43rd time.

At the same time, the traditional Fredy-Künzle-Festival takes place, a gathering of barrel organ players with historic and self built instruments. The mechanical organs can not only be viewed but are also demonstrated and provide musical accompaniment in the lanes. Historic automobiles complete the nostalgic picture of the event.

The various programme areas are spread along the Hauptgasse and over adjoining spaces in the historic town centre. The event is manageable in size, and the picture is shaped above all by the barrel organs and the historic vehicles, the photo flea market itself is the smaller part of what happens.

The Nostalgietag is thus aimed not exclusively at collectors of old cameras, but equally at lovers of mechanical music, historic vehicles and everyday technical history. The combination of the different specialist fields with the historic old town gives the event its distinctive character.
