Grosse Sammlerbörse Hochdorf

The Grosse Sammlerbörse Hochdorf takes place twice a year, on a Friday and Saturday in spring and in autumn, in the Kulturzentrum Braui right in the centre of Hochdorf and ranks among the largest collectors' fairs in central Switzerland. From the outside the Kulturzentrum looks rather unassuming, yet inside it opens up into a surprisingly diverse world of collecting. In the large event hall around 130 sales tables are lined up, densely stocked with stamps, old postcards, coins, watches, jewellery, model railways, records and numerous other collectables. A few stands with antiques, historic ceramics and other special finds round out the offer.

What stands out is the care with which the exhibitors present their stock. Decades-old handwritten postcards lie in boxes, sorted by place, motif or era. Much of it only reveals itself on closer inspection, when behind an unassuming card, a stamp or an old everyday object lies a special story or a sought-after collector's piece.

The atmosphere is clearly different from an ordinary flea market. Instead of lively bustle, the hall is calm and almost studious. Visitors take their time, browse the stock systematically and strike up expert conversations with the exhibitors. The fair appeals above all to people who are searching specifically for certain pieces, but it also offers the curious an insight into quite different, sometimes highly specialised collecting fields.

The Kulturzentrum Braui is centrally located in Hochdorf and can be comfortably reached both by public transport and by car. The station is only a few minutes' walk away, and the parking garage directly under the building makes getting there especially easy.
