Fête de la Brocante, Le Landeron

The Fête de la Brocante in Le Landeron is among the largest open air antiques events in Switzerland. Since 1974, the medieval little town transforms for three days on the last weekend of September into a sprawling antiques and brocante market. The event is organised by the Association des Amis de la Vieille Ville du Landeron (AVVL). Residents founded the association on 19 February 1974 to revive the historic Bourg after the old Saturday markets had disappeared. The first Brocante in September of that same year counted 50 traders.

The market stalls stretch over a route of around 1.8 kilometres through the historic old town, along the Lindenpromenade and through adjoining lanes and squares. Well over a hundred antiques dealers and brocanteurs from Switzerland and abroad offer furniture, porcelain, glass, silver, jewellery, art, historic everyday objects, vintage items and design pieces. The Schloss traditionally houses its own area for old toys and collectors' items. Since 2026, a retro gaming area with old consoles and games, pop culture and manga figures and Pokémon cards complements the classic offering.

The historic surroundings are an essential part of the market. Between medieval houses, fountains, arcades and tree lined paths, open sales stands alternate with sheltered exhibition areas. The range is specialised in antiques and brocante; ordinary house clearances and new goods are not the focus.

Friday is traditionally the day of the déballage, when collectors search early for special pieces. Saturday and Sunday bring the full market and the biggest crowds. Over the weekend an extensive food and drink offering with the cantines of the village associations and the Village gourmand complements the event. The involvement of local associations turns the antiques fair into a big regional festival at the same time. Nearby there are over 1500 parking spaces, parking costs CHF 7.
