Fête de la Brocante, Le Landeron

The Fête de la Brocante du Landeron is the largest open-air antiques fair in Switzerland, held since 1974 in the medieval old town of Le Landeron. If you visit the Brocante Le Landeron, you follow a route of around 1.8 kilometres through the Bourg, along the Lindenpromenade and into the surrounding lanes, where the stalls stand between old houses, gates and fountains.

That the brocante takes place here is no coincidence and no backdrop. When the old Saturday markets had disappeared, residents founded the Association des Amis de la Vieille Ville du Landeron on 19 February 1974 to revive the historic Bourg. In September of the same year the first brocante took place: 50 dealers, miserable weather, and still good enough to carry on. From 1976 it became a two-day event, which has since spread into the surrounding streets.

Le Landeron is a professional brocante, not a village flea market. The organiser's rules give priority to antique dealers and brocanteurs and forbid copies and new goods. At the core are antiques, joined today by brocante, vintage and design, and in the Château there is a dedicated section for old toys. Well over a hundred stalls stretch through the old town, and the cantines and food stands of the village associations, as well as the village gourmand, make the market into what its name promises: a fête.

Which day suits you depends on what you are looking for. Friday is the traditional déballage: the dealers unpack, and collectors come for the early finds. On Saturday and Sunday the full market runs with the biggest crowds. You do not visit a market in an old town here; for one weekend the old town becomes the market.

New in 2026: a retro gaming area with old consoles and games, pop culture and manga figures and Pokémon cards complements the classic offering. The organiser observes new interest among young adults in vinyl, analogue cameras and vintage clothing.
