Schadau-Märit Thun

We arrived only in the late afternoon, on a hot midsummer day, as the Schadaumärit was already slowly drawing to a close, over at the Schadaugärtnerei just a few steps from the Thunersee, behind the Schadaupark with the Schloss Schadau from the 19th century. Not a large antiques market, but a small, intimate and distinctly local market: manageable, relaxed and neighbourly, with many families combining their walk in the park with a detour to the flea market. The offering was classic and uncomplicated, crockery, books, clothes and all sorts of bric-a-brac from the neighbourhood, and here it is less about spectacular collector's pieces than about relaxed browsing in a particularly beautiful place.
