Quartierflohmi BaselHirzbrunnen
The Quartierflohmi Basel is a series of neighbourhood flea markets that take place every year from April to October in around 18 districts, in Basel as well as in Riehen and Bottmingen. They are organised by the residents themselves, entirely in keeping with the motto "finds and unusual glimpses into backyards and gardens".
Private sellers sell used items on their properties, in gardens, driveways and in front of houses, so that every Quartierflohmi is also a walk through the residential streets. The offer consists mostly of private household clearances with clothes, shoes, children's things, toys, books and everyday objects. In between you also find older decorative objects, pictures, collectables and occasionally more extensive private collections.
What that looks like is shown, for instance, by the edition in Spitzacker in Bottmingen, a quiet, green residential district above Basel with well kept gardens, hedges and varied houses. The stalls are spread across the whole district, and the way between them offers a glimpse into the neighbourhood surroundings. Families, conversations between neighbours and small food stands belong to the market scene there just as much as the browsing.
The Quartierflohmi is especially suited to visitors who like browsing casually through private secondhand offerings and appreciate a local, familiar atmosphere.

From garden to garden, through driveways, courtyards and small side streets. The way from one stall to the next is already half the joy here, and you look almost as curiously at the houses and into the gardens as at the stalls.

By the bank the goods are then spread right out on the path, with the Roche towers on the other side.
