Les Puces de Nyon

On Sunday morning we arrived by train, shortly after the rain, the quays were still glistening, but the market was already wide awake. It stretches for over a kilometre along Lake Geneva, from the quay up into the old town beneath the castle, whose museum holds several hundred pieces of porcelain from the Manufacture de Nyon (1781-1813). Classic puces stalls stand alongside brocanteurs who present their pieces carefully: few clothes, but many things with patina and history. In August the puces pause, continuing again on 27 September.
