Flohmarkt Gallusplatz St. Gallen
The Flohmarkt Gallusplatz takes place in the historic Stiftsbezirk of St. Gallen, from April to November on the first Saturday of each month. Organised by the Quartierverein, the market lies just a few steps from the famous Stiftsbibliothek and combines a traditional flea market with a particularly charming old town setting.
The range includes used clothing, crockery, books, household items and various secondhand articles, much of it from local residents. In between you'll find antiques, vintage objects and older collector's pieces. The market is not specialised in individual categories of goods but offers a varied mix of private secondhand items and interesting older finds.
The stalls are spread across the paved Gallusplatz, where a striking large tree forms a central eye catcher. Historic building facades and the proximity to the Stiftsbezirk shape the surroundings. Already by around eight in the morning the market is lively, with numerous visitors, conversations and busy activity between the stalls.
Thanks to its manageable size and strong neighbourhood character, the Gallusplatz is especially suited for an uncomplicated flea market visit in St. Gallen's old town. The immediate proximity to the UNESCO World Heritage Stiftsbezirk offers an additional opportunity to combine the visit with a walk through the town.

We were there early in the morning, on the cobblestones in the middle of the UNESCO monastery district, and the square was already lively. A sociable market with a nice mix of secondhand and antiques, and the famous Stiftsbibliothek just a few steps away.
