About this market

The Bodensee flea markets in Altenrhein take place right next to the St. Gallen-Altenrhein airfield, several times a year on a Sunday between May and August, on the car park of the Stadler company. The venue combines a traditional outdoor flea market with an unusual setting: while you rummage between the stalls, smaller aircraft regularly take off and land right next door.

The range includes a broad mix of used household goods, crockery, books, tools, antiques and vintage objects. Alongside everyday secondhand items you'll find older utensils, collectibles and various curiosities, from antique rarities to unusual collector's pieces. The focus is on a classic flea market offering rather than a specialised antiques fair.

The stalls are arranged across the open grounds and offer space for various dealers and private sellers. In the middle of the grounds the Flohmi-Beizli invites you to take a break, and parking is available nearby.

Another special feature is the proximity to the Markthalle Altenrhein with its striking architecture, inspired by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. This means you can combine your visit to the flea market with a detour to one of the most unusual buildings in the Bodensee region.

In sweltering heat we were at the market on Sunday afternoon right by the airfield, where a plane keeps taking off again and again. A real flea market with a broad, honest mix, from old tools to antiques to vintage collectibles.
