About this market

The Floh- und Trödlermarkt Winterthur takes place from March to October on around two Saturdays a month in the historic old town, with a summer break in August. Unlike many flea markets that are limited to a single square, this market spreads across several lanes and squares around the Stadtkirche.

The range includes a varied mix of classic flea market items, used household goods, crockery, books, toys, vintage objects, antiques and collectibles. Private and experienced sellers trade side by side, so everyday secondhand goods alternate with special older single pieces. The city allocates the stall spaces in advance, the registration deadline for the following year is 31 December.

What is characteristic is the integration into Winterthur's old town. The stalls follow the historic lanes, past old house facades, shops and cafés. As you walk around, new market areas keep opening up. Especially on well attended days, a lively connection forms between the actual flea market and everyday city life.

The market suits both focused treasure hunters and visitors who like to browse extensively and combine the flea market visit with a stroll through the old town.

The market isn't confined to a single square, but stretches through the whole old town, lane after lane, around the church, with cafés in between to pause at. On a very hot Saturday the children jumped into the fountains, and the selection ranged from classic flea market goods to vintage pieces, collectibles and antiques.
