About this market

The Floh- & Antiquitätenmarkt Werdenberg takes place on the Marktplatz by the Werdenbergersee in Buchs SG, with a view of the historic old town of Werdenberg and the castle above it. The open-air market runs from March to the end of October on individual Saturdays, with a summer break, and combines a varied flea market offer with antiques, vintage objects and older items from the region.

The range includes used household goods, crockery, books, toys, clothes, tools and decorative items. In between you find shabby-chic objects, furnishings from the 1960s and 1970s, as well as older farming tools and regional antiques. The mix of everyday secondhand goods and interesting older individual pieces makes the market varied for flea market visitors and collectors alike.

Already shortly after eight in the morning the market is well attended. The offer is surprisingly extensive and varied, with a lively, uncomplicated market atmosphere. Buchs lies in the St. Galler Rheintal, with Liechtenstein directly opposite and Vorarlberg a few kilometres upstream, so visitors from Liechtenstein and Austria also belong to the market's catchment area.

The location right by the small lake, with Schloss Werdenberg in the background, gives the flea market a particularly attractive backdrop. A simple market stand with tables and benches rounds off the offer, and parking is available in the immediate vicinity.

Prices often move at a moderate level, and haggling is also part of the market scene. Since TWINT is less widespread here than at other Swiss markets and not all vendors accept it, it is advisable to bring cash.

The market is set up on the market square by the Werdenbergersee, with Schloss Werdenberg as a backdrop behind it, and is more varied than expected: household goods, tools, toys, clothes, shabby chic, pieces from the 1970s and surprisingly many older items from the region. In the parking areas, there are number plates from Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Austria; the prices are fair, and the mood is wonderfully uncomplicated.
